Hands shot out of the darkness, raw and bleeding, or worse, red-painted skeletons, grasping for the living.Īdrienne turned away. The cultists tried to run, but like the bandits from a few days before, they weren’t fast enough. Patrick held the spell, a hard, eager smile twisting his face into something frightening. The sound of ripping meat filled the air, somehow worse for not being able to see what was happening. Black light erupted behind her, a horror of grasping hands and the howls of men as they were dragged into the darkness. Adrienne shoved one back down onto the grass and raised her swards warningly, the familiar sickness of murdering people wrapped around her heart.

Fortunately, even in real life, the cultists weren’t really much of a problem unless there was a lot of them. She scrambled up the rocks, two of the cultists in hot pursuit. “Get clear! I’m gonna blow my finisher!”Īdrienne cursed and dove for the relative safety of not there. “Looks like thee quest left a few things out!” Patrick yelled back, fending off three men with blasts of his moon-glow magic that left fog in the air after every explosion. “Weren’t they in that noob quest for the last big expansion!?” Patrick’s ghoulish magic worked nonetheless, and the ash quickly took the shape of fallen men who turned on their former allies with brutal glee. The jeweled lily around her throat worked exactly as Yvarian said it would, and sped her attacks until she was a whirl of steel and bloody magic that left nothing but piles of ash behind her.

“I thought we handled these guys!” Adrienne yelled, trusting in her skills to keep her safe, even if she wasn’t entirely sure how to make it work.
Eight men weren’t a challenge, but thirty were, even for a max level character. It was cultists, bearing the mark of a red scorpion, and wild-eyed determination. On their way to the coast, and the wizard tower that Adrienne hoped was the first leg of their quest, they were attacked. It turned out that combat was the one place that Adrienne and Patrick, sort of, saw eye to eye.
